Cornerstone Government Affairs, an employee-owned, bipartisan government relations, public affairs, and consulting firm, announced today its expanded footprint with the opening of a Carson City, Nevada office.
The new market adds to the firm's growth in the Mountain West - and across the nation - with existing offices in Washington, DC, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Texas. Of particular note, combined with the company's offices in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina, Cornerstone will have a front-row seat every four years for the presidential nominating process in the first four nominating states. This presence will give the firm the opportunity to tell clients' stories in a unique and compelling way.
Since 2022, Jason Frierson has served as the US Attorney for the District of Nevada after being nominated by President Biden, acting as the chief federal law enforcement officer for the District of Nevada, and the first African American to hold the position. In this role, Frierson led a team of more than 100 prosecutors and staff professionals, including 55 attorneys who handled federal criminal, civil and appellate cases. In addition, he met regularly with local, state and federal law enforcement agency leaders, and other key community leaders and organizations to discuss investigations, current cases and developing trends.
Frierson started his career representing the indigent, serving as a prosecutor of white-collar criminals and as an agency attorney in protecting child abuse victims. In 2010, he was elected to the Nevada State Assembly and was voted the best freshman Assemblyman in 2011. After being re-elected for the 2013 session, he served as Chairman of the Judiciary Committee.
After one term out of the legislature, Frierson was elected to return to the Nevada Assembly in 2016 and was then selected in a bipartisan and unanimous vote to serve as the Assembly's first African American Speaker in Nevada history. He served in that role for three consecutive legislative sessions, leading one of the most diverse state legislatures in the country and the first female majority legislature in the country's history.
"I am excited to join Cornerstone's incredible team and have been impressed by their commitment to addressing a client's specific needs while also prioritizing honesty, integrity and long-term relationships," Frierson said. "I am looking forward to using my experience maintaining key relationships with policymakers as well as my own history of advancing a broad range of legislation to deliver results for Cornerstone's clients in Nevada and across the country."
Alisa Nave-Worth, who joins Cornerstone following her time as CEO of Alisa Nave-Worth Consulting, brings unparalleled expertise in Nevada's legal, political and public policy matters. Working with a diverse array of clients, Nave-Worth has leveraged her deep understanding of the legislative process and strong relationships with Nevada decisionmakers to craft and advocate for legislative strategies, which has built her a reputation as a trusted advisor in the state's political landscape. Additionally, she previously spearheaded opening the Las Vegas offices for two of the biggest law and lobbying firms in the country.
Nave-Worth specializes in addressing legislative, regulatory and administrative issues, focusing on transportation, construction, entertainment, infrastructure and campaign finance compliance. She has successfully represented clients before the Nevada Legislature and state agencies, guiding them through complex rule-making and regulatory matters. A seasoned campaign consultant, Nave-Worth has also worked on presidential campaigns, where she led grassroots initiatives and built influential political coalitions across Nevada. As a strategic advisor to the Nevada Senate caucus, she implemented political and communications strategies, enabling the passage of critical legislation across sectors such as transportation, energy, taxation, gaming and education.
Nave-Worth earned a B.A. in Russian Language and Literature and Public Policy Studies from Duke University and earned her Juris Doctorate from Berkeley Law School, UC Berkeley. She is licensed to practice law in Nevada and California and is a member of the Clark County Bar Association and the Nevada State Bar Association. The Nevada Association of Women Business Owners recently recognized her as one of its Women of Distinction and the Women's Democratic Club of Clark County awarded her the Bonnie Bryan Award, and she has also been named among Vegas Inc.'s 40 Under 40 and a Rising Star attorney by the Las Vegas Business Journal. She was a member of the Leadership Las Vegas class of 2011 and serves as a board member for Silver State Equality and the Nevada Anti-Defamation League.
"Cornerstone's unique philosophy of professional collaboration and long-standing track record of success and longevity of client relationships will differentiate the firm in Nevada," Nave-Worth said. "I am tremendously excited to be alongside the incredible professionals at Cornerstone to deliver positive results for our clients in Nevada and nationwide."
Accompanying Frierson and Nave-Worth on the Nevada team is Stephanie Balistere, who began her career in government affairs as a small business owner and eventually ran campaign compliance, client communications and logistics at Alisa Nave-Worth Consulting. With nearly a decade of government affairs experience, Balistere will further support Nevada clients by assisting with their legislative and advocacy agendas.
"The addition of Jason, Alisa and Stephanie to our team is a significant win for the firm, and we are so pleased to have them," firm President Campbell Kaufman said. "Their expertise and relationships will be invaluable to existing and future clients in the market."
