Carroll/Chariton County Route M bridge reopening delayed

St. Joseph, Mo. - The reopening of the Carroll/Chariton County Route M bridge over the Grand River east of Bosworth has been postponed due to contractor delays. Phillips Hardy, Inc. working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, closed the bridge on July 15 with a scheduled reopening by October 1. The bridge is now expected to reopen by Friday, Oct. 25, 2024.

The bridge, built in 1983, carries approximately 300 vehicles per day. The project includes replacing the bridge's deck, barriers and approaches, along with sealing the bridge structure and various drainage work. Motorists will need to continuing seeking an alternate route.

All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
