The Alfred University Office of Public Safety, in partnership with Alfred State College, is offering the nationally-recognized Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) program.
The comprehensive course, offered only to women, is designed to empower participants with realistic self-defense tactics and techniques. R.A.D. is being offered free to students, staff, and faculty from Alfred University and Alfred State College. Alfred University has been offering the course for several years through its Public Safety office; this marks the first year the university has collaborated with Alfred State to offer the class.
A QR code is available from the Public Safety office that can be used to sign up for the course. The QR code, which is displayed on posters outside the Alfred University Public Safety office in Powell Campus Center, allows interested students, staff, and faculty to choose from a list of available dates and times to take the class. The number of classes offered each semester depends on the level of interest.
The classes typically last 10 to 12 hours and can be completed over two days.
For more information or to express interest in signing up, please contact Alfred University Public Safety at 607-871-2108, or email [email protected].
