Telespazio, a Leonardo and Thales 67/33 joint venture and a global leader in satellite services, and ABS, a leading satellite operator, have partnered to enhanced satellite connectivity services for the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) air traffic control system. This partnership is part of a strategic contract with a Brazilian telecommunications operator.

Telespazio will collaborate with ABS to deliver high-capacity, bi-directional C-band links through its newly inaugurated SATCOM hub at the Maricá teleport near Rio de Janeiro. These services will support the FAB's Integrated Air Defense and Air Traffic Control Center (CINDACTA) units under the Department of Airspace Control (DECEA). The partnership also aims to expand services to further government and commercial customers, ensuring highly reliable and high-capacity connections.

Since August 2019, Telespazio and ABS have collaborated to offer advanced telecommunications solutions and this partnership continues to expand with the implementation of new strategic projects.

Inaugurated in March 2023, the Maricá Teleport represents a milestone in Telespazio's global strategy to expand its SATCOM and geoinformation services portfolio. The teleport is designed to support a variety of satellite systems and will host additional hubs for future satellite communications projects.

"Our partnership with Telespazio represents a significant step forward in providing cutting-edge satellite connectivity solutions. By leveraging the new hub in Maricá, we are not only enhancing the capabilities of air traffic control for the Brazilian Air Force but also paving the way for future advancements in satellite communications across various sectors," said Mark Rigolle, CEO of ABS. "This collaboration underscores ABS's commitment to delivering reliable and high-capacity services to our customers worldwide."

"The partnership with ABS and our new SATCOM in Maricá reinforce our strategy to provide high reliability customized services to our customers," said Marzio Laurenti, CEO of Telespazio Brasil. "We are honored to have been awarded to provide high-capacity links in C band for such a strategic system as the Brazilian Air Traffic Control System."
