Rep. Nancy Mace Introduces Bill To Shut The Door On Immigrants Who Reject American Values

WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 26, 2026) - Today, Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-SC) introduced the No Immigration Without Assimilation Act, putting an end to a broken system allowing people who reject American values to walk right through our front door. The legislation requires the Department of Homeland Security to conduct mandatory assimilation likelihood screenings before approving any immigration benefit application.

This bill is simple: if you hate America, you don't get to come here or stay here. Period.

Under the legislation, any immigrant who holds views incompatible with the principles of the United States, refuses to assimilate into American culture, or whose presence would be detrimental to American cultural cohesion will be denied entry into this country. Additionally, if an immigrant already inside the United States is found to hold these views, they are deportable. America has every right to protect its culture, its laws, and its people.

"The days of rolling out the welcome mat for people who despise this country are over," said Congresswoman Mace. "If you believe Sharia law should replace the Constitution, if you think Jihadi violence is justified, if you refuse to learn English, you do not get to come here. Sharia law will never replace American law. This country was built by people who loved it, sacrificed for it, and chose it. If you cannot do the same, stay home. America is the greatest country on earth and we have every right to protect it."

Americans do not have to look far to see why this bill is necessary. In New York City, the Muslim call to prayer has been broadcast through the streets whether residents wanted to hear it or not. In Dearborn, Michigan, home to one of the largest Muslim populations in the country, the city has been accused of operating under Sharia law instead of American law. When residents dared to complain about mosques blasting the call to prayer over loudspeakers, the Muslim mayor dismissed their concerns as "not an issue." When a Christian resident raised concerns about street signs recognizing an Arab American publisher, he was called a "bigot" and told he was "not welcome" in his own city by the same mayor.

In Texas, investigations were called for after Sharia tribunals were accused of masquerading as legal courts in Dallas and Collin counties, issuing rulings based on Islamic law instead of American law and bypassing the United States Constitution entirely.

This is not hypothetical. This is happening on American soil. The No Immigration Without Assimilation Act puts a stop to it.

The bill defines views incompatible with American principles to include:

  • Belief in religious law replacing or operating parallel to U.S. law, such as Sharia law
  • Belief religiously or politically motivated violence is justified
  • Belief constitutional rights should not apply to individuals
  • Belief authoritarian government is superior to representative democracy
  • Refusal to learn the English language
  • Any other belief DHS determines incompatible with American principles

Screenings would include a direct interview with the applicant, a review of public statements, and interviews with relatives and associates who can speak to the applicant's character and beliefs.

"Every other country on earth protects its culture, its values, and its way of life. America should be no different, "added Mace. "For too long, we have opened our doors to people who have no respect for our country. We are not a dumping ground for the third world. This bill puts America first and we will not apologize for it."
