An indoor adventure park is coming to a Paramus shopping center, adding a major tenant as part of a joint venture's plan to reposition the grocery-anchored property.

The operator, NRG, will lease some 59,000 square feet above the Stew Leonard's supermarket at Paramus Park South, according to a news release from the brokerage firm TSCG. The location at 700 Paramus Park is expected to open in 2027, providing a new family destination with trampolines, ropes courses, climbing attractions, virtual-reality experiences and party facilities on the upper level of the former Sears.

It also continues the transformation of the well-known property after it was acquired last year by Heidenberg Properties Group, Red Starr Investments, Norse Realty Group and DAG Paramus. Jamie Sackeim of TSCG represented ownership in the latest deal, while Jerry Welkis and Stephan Miller of Welco Realty represented the tenant.

"This is a rare space to find," Sackeim said. "It's a big, wide-open floor sitting right on top of a grocery anchor, with the Parkway out front and families already coming through the door every day. NRG will turn the upper level into yet another reason to come to Paramus Park South and cement its reputation as a family destination."

NRG, which also has a location in Springfield, will sit directly above the 100,000-square-foot Stew Leonard's. That will place it within a 14-acre site that has frontage on Route 17, with daily traffic of roughly 138,000 vehicles, along with its direct exposure to the Garden State Parkway.

The building also connects to the Paramus Park Mall and its 60-plus retailers, including Macy's, L.L. Bean, Uniqlo, Sephora and Ulta, the brokerage team said. The trade area, meantime, offers an average household income of more than $219,000 within a 10-minute drive, while Bergen County ranks among the wealthiest and most densely populated in the United States.
