Chinese Embassy in Guyana Hosts Reception Celebrating the 76th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China

The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Guyana hosted a reception on 26 September 2025, to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Ambassador Yang Yang and Prime Minister Performing the Functions of President of Guyana, Brigadier (Ret'd) Mark Anthony Phillips, delivered remarks at the event. Over 400 attendees included Guyana's Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance Gail Teixeira, other Cabinet Ministers, members of the diplomatic corps in Guyana, as well as representatives from Chinese companies and Chinese communities.

In the speech, Ambassador Yang reviewed the remarkable achievements China has made over the past 76 years. She highlighted the Global Governance Initiative put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping and the significant contributions of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression to the World Anti-Fascist War. The Ambassador commended Guyana's consistent adherence to the one-China principle and emphasized China's commitment to working closely with Guyana under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state to build an even closer community with a shared future for China and Guyana.

Prime Minister Performing the Functions of President Phillips extended warm congratulations on China's National Day, speaking highly of the achievements of Chinese modernization and the friendship between Guyana and China. He commended the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence put forward by China, and expressed readiness to deepen practical cooperation to elevate bilateral relations to new heights.

The guests also viewed the photo exhibition marking the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.
