(Tamuning, Guam) - The Guam Economic Development Authority (GEDA) commemorated its 60th anniversary on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Hyatt Regency Guam, celebrating six decades of progress, partnership, and purpose under the theme "60 Years of Building Guam's Economy: Honoring Our Legacy; Investing in Tomorrow."

The milestone event brought together government leaders, industry partners, and members of the business community to honor GEDA's enduring role in driving Guam's economic growth and diversification since its establishment in 1965.

GEDA Administrator Christina D. Garcia opened the evening with welcoming remarks that reflected on the GEDA's six-decade journey of service and its continued mission to build a stronger, more inclusive, and resilient Guam economy. Administrator Garcia also expressed deep appreciation for the vision and support of the Leon Guerrero-Tenorio Administration whose leadership continues to guide GEDA's work in advancing key initiatives that create opportunities for the people of Guam.

"This milestone is so much more than just a number. It represents six decades of people working together; of vision, partnership, and purpose, all with one goal in mind: to help Guam grow and thrive," said Garcia. "What truly defines this milestone are the people who made it possible, our leaders, partners, businesses, and every member of the GEDA family, past and present, whose dedication continues to carry our mission forward."

Throughout the evening, GEDA was recognized for its commitment and contributions to Guam's economic development with three special presentations:

1. A Proclamation presented by Acting Governor Joshua F. Tenorio, recognizing GEDA's 60 years of service and commitment to Guam's prosperity.

2. A Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition, presented by Congressman James C. Moylan, honoring GEDA's long-standing impact on Guam's economic advancement.

3. Resolution No. 108-38, presented by Oversight Chair Senator Telo Taitague on behalf of the 38th Guam Legislature, commending GEDA's leadership and achievements in promoting economic opportunity and public service.

"Opportunities rarely come easily; they are often born out of challenge," said Acting Governor Joshua F. Tenorio. "GEDA has shown time and again that when faced with adversity, our island comes together, innovate, and emerge stronger than before."

Distinguished guests included Acting Governor Joshua F. Tenorio, Congressman James C. Moylan, senators of the 38th Guam Legislature, former GEDA administrators and board chairpersons, GEDA retirees and former employees, as well as industry partners and event sponsors.

Since its creation in 1965, GEDA has served as a cornerstone institution for Guam's economic policy and development. The Authority continues to lead efforts in investment attraction, business support, infrastructure financing, and the promotion of local industries.

The 60th anniversary celebration served not only as a tribute to GEDA's legacy but also as a reaffirmation of its mission to invest in the future. As Administrator Garcia emphasized, "Together, we will continue building a Guam that is innovative, inclusive, and open for business."

"Guam stands at the edge of new economic opportunities and diversification, in digital innovation, sustainable industries, aquaculture, healthcare, and the creative economy," said Acting Governor Joshua F. Tenorio. "As it has for the past 60 years, GEDA will remain at the heart of these efforts; partnering with government, business, and entrepreneurs to build the next chapter of Guam's economic story."
