NYU Sends Out Offers of Admission to the Class of 2029

NYU has sent offers of admission to its future Class of 2029. Offers of admission to NYU's New York campus were made to just 7.7% of the more than 120,000 students who applied to become members of next fall's entering undergraduate class, making the Class of 2029 one of the most selective classes in NYU's history.

Three of NYU's undergraduate colleges-the College of Arts and Science, the Leonard N. Stern School of Business, and the Rory Meyers College of Nursing-offered admission to fewer than 5% of applicants. For the class entering in fall 2025, NYU set a new record for the largest early decision applicant pool in history, with more than 25,000 applications, a 10% increase in early decision applications from last year.

NYU anticipates that approximately 20% of the class will be Pell Grant recipients and 20% will be first-generation students. This year's cohort hails from all 50 states, 128 countries, and approximately 1,000 students from New York City public schools.

Like the Class of 2028, the members of the Class of 2029 at NYU's New York campus with financial need are eligible for The NYU Promise, an initiative first announced at President Linda G. Mills' inauguration:

  • Families with incomes of less than $100,000 will not have to pay tuition

  • NYU will meet 100% of demonstrated need

  • Scholarships will be adjusted to meet tuition increases each year

"Year after year, we are in awe of the talent and ambition of the many students who aspire to join the NYU community and are thrilled to offer admission to this group of students," said Carol Kim, vice president for global recruitment, admissions and financial aid at NYU. "The perspectives of these remarkable individuals will enrich our classrooms, their curiosity will fuel groundbreaking research, and most importantly, their commitment to collaboration reflects the very essence of our mission-building bridges of understanding and cooperation. They inspire us, and we cannot wait to see the impact they will have at NYU and beyond. Through them, we see the promise of a brighter future."

Founded in 1831, NYU is one of the world's foremost research universities (with more than $1 billion per year in research expenditures, it is ranked seventh among private research universities) and is a member of the selective Association of American Universities. NYU has degree-granting university campuses in New York, Abu Dhabi, and Shanghai; has 13 other global academic sites, including London, Paris, Florence, Tel Aviv, Buenos Aires, and Accra, and US sites in Washington, DC, Los Angeles, CA, and Tulsa, OK; and both sends more students to study abroad and educates more international students than any other U.S. college or university. Through its numerous schools and colleges, NYU is a leader in conducting research and providing education in the arts and sciences, law, medicine, business, dentistry, engineering, education, nursing, the cinematic and performing arts, music and studio arts, public administration, social work, public health, and professional studies, among other areas.
