IN THE STATES: Democrats Dial Up Pressure Campaign Against GOP With New Organizing Program, Highlight Devastating Impacts of Trump’s Tax Scam Arrow

Last week, the DNC, ASDC, and our sister committees launched "Organizing Summer," an all-out organizing blitz featuring virtual and in-person events to build momentum, energize voters, and cultivate a robust, agile Democratic volunteer base ready to put pressure on Republicans. From voter registration events and town halls, to meeting voters online and in-person, this campaign will ensure Democrats are in the best position to kick Republicans out of their seats and win across the board in critical 2025 and 2026 elections.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress pushed forward with their billionaire-first budget bill that betrays working Americans to give tax handouts to the ultra-wealthy. This out-of-touch, atrocious bill includes kicking 17 million Americans off of health care coverage, reduces or ends food benefits for 22 million Americans, and cuts off key funding for rural hospitals across the country. Americans are already feeling the pain of Republicans' billionaire budget betrayal.

Ahead of Trump's visit to the Iowa State fairgrounds, the DNC unveiled new billboards slamming Trump and Sen. Joni Ernst for ripping away health care and not giving a damn about whether Iowans live or die. Ernst, along with many of her Republican colleagues, shamelessly voted to pass Trump's billionaires-first budget bill that enriches billionaires off the backs of hardworking Americans, including the Iowans she was elected to represent.

On the Fourth of July, the DNC released a new memo highlighting how America should be the land of opportunity, but, under Donald Trump, the American dream is dying. Prices are rising. Hundreds of thousands of Americans have lost their jobs. Small businesses are suffering. The social safety net was just gutted with historic cuts to Medicaid and food assistance. The American dream of owning a home is leaping further and further out of reach for millions of hardworking families. It has become drastically harder for Americans to just survive and get by - let alone get ahead.

Finally, Chair Martin got personal about his own experience as a child on Medicaid and SNAP. These vital programs gave him a shot at the American dream: a roof over his head, a warm meal, an education, a meaningful career, and a family of his own. Democrats are fighting for people across the country who want the same for themselves and their families.
