The President: A level of trust between Berlin and Vilnius is iron-clad

On Tuesday, President Gitanas Nausėda attended an event marking the 30th anniversary of the German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce.

In his opening remarks, the President recalled that thirty years ago, when the German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce was founded, Europe looked different. But the vision was clear. Back then, the Baltic Sea was seen not as a barrier, but as a highway-a connection of shared values, shared markets, and a shared destiny

"Today, we celebrate three decades of building this impressive bridge between our nations and economies. A bridge that is not made primarily of steel and concrete, but of trust, computer chips, and soon-even 155-millimetre ammunition. 500 companies take part in this great community, sharing risks and expressing confidence in the talent, ingenuity, and the bright future of the Lithuanian people. We are grateful to each and every one of you," President Gitanas Nausėda spoke.

According to the Head of State, the German businesses have brought more than their capital to Lithuania. A culture of excellence, the precision of advanced technology, and the vision of modern management followed. The commitment of German businesses, spanning decades, allowed thousands of Lithuanians to go to work every day in high-quality jobs that help power our national resurgence.

"I am happy to note that our partnership is rapidly evolving. The decision by Commerzbank to establish its Baltic hub right here in Vilnius is a powerful sign of confidence in our economy, as well as our security. Those are the two sides of the same coin, as evidenced by the landmark partnership with Rheinmetall, which will also help Lithuania to grow as a provider of security. Together, we are building the tools to protect our peace for generations to come," the President underlined.

The Lithuanian leader noted that nothing illustrates the depth of our bond more clearly than the stationing of the German Brigade on Lithuanian soil. This historic milestone is a visible signal that an attack on one NATO ally will be considered an attack on all. It reflects a level of trust between Berlin and Vilnius that is as iron-clad as it is indispensable.

"To our German friends: your presence here is an act of solidarity. It reminds us that we do not stand alone in our defense of freedom, stability, and the European way of life. And within this alliance, this union of trust and shared values, proudly stands the German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce. Never missing a heartbeat, it propels us forward and lets us imagine an even greater, more prosperous future," President Gitanas Nausėda concluded.
