Fresno Pacific selected to host 2027 NetVUE Regional Gathering

A three-day exploration of culture, vocation and belonging will be hosted at Fresno Pacific University. The NetVUE Regional Gathering will bring together faculty and staff from colleges and universities across the region to explore how culture influences vocational discernment, belonging and student formation.

The gathering, titled "Encuentra: Explorations of Culture and Calling," will take place February 25-27, 2027 at the FPU main campus, 1717 S. Chestnut Ave., Fresno. The event is supported by a $32,798 grant awarded through NetVUE by the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC).

Participants will be invited to examine how culture shapes their understanding of vocational calling while celebrating Latine culture. During the gathering, they will use a new resource from NetVUE: Encuentra: Conversation Cards on Calling, Career and a Life Well-Lived.

The event has been spearheaded by FPU Professor of Biblical & Theological Studies and Director of GE & Faculty Development Laura Schmidt Roberts and Director of Student Support Services and the TRIO Program Sarah Micu.

"We're honored to welcome educators from across the region to Fresno Pacific for this important gathering," said Roberts. "Our hope is that the conference provides an opportunity for participants to reflect on the role of culture and community in their own vocational journey and to more explicitly engage those same questions with students, faculty, staff and administrators at their own campuses."

The Encuentra deck features Spanish-English conversation cards that, according to the gathering website, "concretizes the fact that language and our broader cultural roots profoundly shape us and our experience of the world."

Through presentations, workshops and immersive experiences, attendees will explore ways to foster meaningful conversations about vocation within increasingly diverse campus communities.

The regional gathering reflects Fresno Pacific's ongoing commitment to cultivating vocation-centered learning and faculty development. As a higher education institution in one of the nation's most culturally diverse regions, the university provides a space uniquely suited to conversations about the intersection of culture, identity and calling.

NetVUE

NetVUE (The Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education) is a nationwide network of over 300 colleges and universities formed to support and enrich vocational exploration and discernment among undergraduate students.
