Fifth Bulb Placed on Wreath During 'Keep the Wreath Green'

A fifth red bulb has been added to the wreath by Escambia County Fire Rescue during "Keep the Wreath Green" following a residential structure fire Tuesday, Dec. 17.

Escambia County Fire Rescue was dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 1000 block of West Scott Street at 10:41 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17, where heavy flames and smoke were visible from a single-story house. ECFR immediately attacked the fire, bringing the situation under control by 11:15 p.m. Assistance was provided by Pensacola Fire Department due to the proximity to City of Pensacola limits.

ECFR conducted the investigation and determined that damaged electrical wiring from the dryer caused the fire. The occupants have been displaced due to the significant damage. There were no injuries or fatalities.

During the month-long "Keep the Wreath Green" fire safety campaign, five-foot wreaths will be on display at 18 county fire stations and five city fire stations, as well as Escambia County's Ernie Lee Magaha Government Building downtown, the Escambia County Public Safety Building, Pensacola City Hall and Cordova Mall. Each time firefighters respond to a residential or commercial fire with damage, a green light bulb will be replaced with a red one to remind citizens of the dangers posed by fires in residential and commercial buildings.
