WASHINGTON - Yesterday, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) spoke on the Senate floor to discuss his Eliminate Shutdowns Act to end the drama and uncertainty of Congress's budgetary dysfunction. The bill ends government shutdowns by establishing two-week rolling continuing resolutions to fund the government if there is a lapse in appropriations.
"Aren't you getting sick and tired of these government shutdowns? The drama, the turmoil, the partisan bickering, and holding the American people hostage for demands of billions and billions of dollars for more spending we can't afford?" Sen. Johnson said.
"The American people don't like these shutdowns. They want them ended. We have a very simple bill, not partisan, that offers no advantage to anybody. It keeps the government open and gives appropriators time to do appropriating, appropriate those departments, and end all the chaos, all the turmoil, and all the games with people's lives," Sen. Johnson concluded.
