CALUMET, MI - The Keweenaw National Historical Park Advisory Commission is pleased to announce that this year's Keweenaw Heritage Grant program has awarded $124,880 in funding for various historic preservation, interpretation, education, and curatorial projects covering an area stretching from Copper Harbor to Rockland.
19 grant applications were received this year with 13 chosen to receive awards. Projects ranged from: building and historic resource repair and maintenance, self-guided tour planning, visitor accessibility improvements, and collections digitization and management.
Since 2008, the Keweenaw Heritage Grant program has awarded over $2 million to owners and operators of historic properties and providers of history programs in support of projects that further the preservation and interpretation of the story of copper on the Keweenaw Peninsula.
