Democratic Party of Oregon Statement on the GOP Gubernatorial Nominee

Portland, OR - Democratic Party of Oregon Chair Nathan Soltz issued the following statement in response to [Sen. Christine Drazan/Rep. Ed Diehl/Chris Dudley] becoming the Republican nominee for governor:

"Christine Drazan's nomination as the GOP candidate for governor makes the choice in November clear: Trump is on the ballot in Oregon.

Oregon is a pro-choice state, but Drazan proudly accepted an endorsement from radical anti-abortion group Oregon Right to Life - further proving her staunch opposition to abortion access and a woman's right to choose. She sided with Trump on deploying the National Guard onto Oregon's streets, pushed to cut funding for Medicaid, and just last year sponsored legislation that would restrict voter rights and mail-in voting.

At a time when Trump's disastrous and reckless policies are hurting businesses and raising costs for families, Oregonians deserve a leader that will stand up for them, not someone who is looking to take orders from the White House. Oregon already rejected Christine Drazan's extremist agenda once, and we look forward to doing it again."
