AUC Chairperson received by the President of the Republic of Angola

The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, was received at the State House in Luanda by H.E. João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, President of the Republic of Angola and AU Champion for Peace and Reconciliation in Africa, on the margins of the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Assembly, & the 26th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council on Strengthening Mechanisms for Conflict Prevention & Resolution in Africa.

The Chairperson expressed his profound gratitude to President Lourenço, & to the Government people of Angola, for hosting these important meetings & for the warm hospitality extended to the visiting delegations.

He commended President Lourenço for his leadership & continued commitment to advancing peace, security & reconciliation across the continent, & briefed him on the prevailing peace & security situation in Africa.

The Chairperson also acknowledged Angola's contribution to regional integration & economic development, including through strategic infrastructure initiatives such as the Lobito Corridor.

The Chairperson further expressed appreciation for President Lourenço's sustained diplomatic engagement in support of peace & conflict resolution,& appealed to him to continue deploying his good offices in advancing peace, security, stability & regional integration on the continent.
