Tallahassee Police Celebrate 13 Promotions as Department Marks Bicentennial Year

The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) celebrated the promotion of 13 members during a ceremony held July 1, 2026. The promotions included six Sergeants and seven Lieutenants, recognizing each member's professional accomplishments and readiness to assume greater leadership responsibilities within the department.

Held during TPD's bicentennial year, the ceremony served as both a celebration of the department's 200-year legacy and an investment in its future. As these new supervisors step into their roles, they will help guide the next generation of officers while continuing to strengthen the department's service to the community.

As first-line supervisors, the newly promoted Sergeants will be responsible for leading by example, remaining tactically and technically proficient and helping officers maximize their capabilities. The newly promoted Lieutenants will be charged with bringing personnel together to accomplish common goals, promoting teamwork and balancing operational requirements with the professional development of those they lead. They will also be expected to demonstrate creativity in problem-solving, inspire their teams and uphold the department's mission, values and objectives with integrity and moral courage.

The promotions follow a department-wide leadership reorganization designed to strengthen accountability, improve operational efficiency and better position TPD to meet the evolving needs of both its employees and the community. The newly promoted supervisors will now step into key leadership roles that will help shape the department's future for years to come.

"This reorganization reflects the strength and depth of leadership within our department," Chief Lawrence Revell said. "Each of these individuals has demonstrated the character, professionalism and dedication needed to serve at the next level. As we continue to celebrate TPD's bicentennial, we are proud to recognize their achievements and confident they will help guide the department into its next chapter."
