WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Luz Rivas (CA-29) released the following statement after reviewing a portion of the Epstein Files:
"Today I went myself to the Department of Justice to read the unredacted Epstein Files. I am sickened by the appalling and disturbing emails and documents I read. Not only are many of the files unnecessarily redacted from the public, it also further shows that the Trump Administration is violating the law to protect pedophiles and human traffickers. The Trump Administration is leading the largest federal government cover up in our country's history and the American people deserve answers. There have been zero arrests and absolutely no justice to the victims.
"I urge my Congressional Republican colleagues go to the Department of Justice to do what is right - not what is politically convenient to protect the President and his Administration. While the FBI Director parties in Italy and Trump starts a war in Iran to distract the public from the truth, I will continue fighting to uncover the facts and deliver justice to the victims of Epstein's abuses."
Background:
Congresswoman Luz Rivas voted YES on the Epstein Files Transparency Act,which was signed into law on November 19, 2025. This law mandates that the Department of Justice make all files and documents associated with Jeffrey Epstein or Ghislaine Maxwell to be made public, with certain exceptions such as redacting victim names or personally identifiable information. The Department of Justice continues to have unnecessary redactments within the files.
