The team at Memorial Specialty Care Cardiology continues to expand with the addition of interventional cardiologist Boniface Malangu, MD.
Dr. Malangu is a graduate of New York Medical College and completed a residency in internal medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He also completed a fellowship in cardiology at the University of Iowa and a fellowship in interventional cardiology at Thomas Jefferson University.
He specializes in treating and preventing coronary artery disease and heart failure through procedures like cardiac catheterization, coronary angiogram, percutaneous coronary intervention, angioplasty and atherectomy.
"There are many things patients can do to reduce their risk of heart disease and to live fully with existing heart conditions," Dr. Malangu said. "I enjoy partnering with patients to treat and manage their conditions and have a better quality of life."
Dr. Malangu joins a staff of four cardiologists and seven advanced practice providers at the growing practice, which is based at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
"We're excited to welcome Dr. Malangu as we continue to increase access to high-quality heart care in the Decatur area and across central Illinois," said Brent Ryherd, Director of Clinical Operations.
