STATE BOARD OF FOOD AND AGRICULTURE TO MEET AT FIRA USA ON OCTOBER 21st AT THE YOLO COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS

SACRAMENTO, October 16, 2025 - The California State Board of Food and Agriculture will host conversations on agricultural research, technology, and workforce at the upcoming FIRA USA exhibition on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. FIRA USA is an agricultural robotics and automation conference showcasing innovations in the farming sector.

The Board will also hear an update from the California Department of Pesticide Regulation on SparyDays - a tool that provides transparent access to information in advance of the scheduled use of California restricted material pesticides in production agriculture. In addition, the Board will have an overview of the Regulatory Alignment Study conducted by CDFA and the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA).

The meeting will be held from 10:00am to 1:00pm at FIRA USA - Yolo County Fairgrounds, 1250 Gum Avenue - Home Arts Building, Woodland, CA 95776. FIRA USA is occurring in Woodland, October 21-23rd.

"California's agricultural sector continues to innovate and evolve - becoming more efficient, climate resilient and environmentally focused" said CDFA Secretary Karen Ross. "Research and technology are helping farmers and ranchers to continually improve efficiencies and productions practices to meet the needs of consumers and local communities."

Invited speakers include: Gabriel Youtsey, University of California, Agriculture and Natural Resources; Karen Aceves, ARKEN Strategies; Teresa Siles, Nuffer, Smith, Tucker; Tommy Abeyta, Crowe LLP; Juvenio Guerra, California Department of Pesticide Regulation; and other invited speakers.

"As a farmer, California agriculture cannot be successful without the tools to remain profitable and the ability to align with an evolving regulatory environment ," said President Don Cameron, California State Board of Food and Agriculture. "Research, technology and workforce advances are needed to not only meet current and future production needs - but also to continue to grow the food that producers and consumers can be proud of."

The California State Board of Food and Agriculture advises the governor and CDFA secretary on agricultural issues and consumer needs. The Board conducts forums that bring together local, state and federal government officials; agricultural representatives; and citizens to discuss current issues and concerns to California agriculture.
