Loma Linda University (LLU) is a great college to work for in the United States, according to the "Great Colleges to Work For" program, the ninth time the university has been recognized by the program. This year, the program gave LLU special distinction as an Honor Roll institution for having achieved recognition in all 10 of the Honor Roll categories, the first time in the university's history that it has earned recognition in every category measured by the program. The achievement places LLU among a select group of colleges and universities recognized nationally for workplace excellence.
The 2026 results were released in a special insert of TheChronicle of Higher Education September 18 edition. The institutions achieve "Great College to Work For" recognition for excellence in specific best practices and policies. Results are reported for small, medium, and large institutions, with Loma Linda University included among the medium universities with 3,000 to 9,999 students.
The Honor Roll designation is awarded to institutions recognized in the greatest number of categories within their size group, making LLU's achievement in all 10 categories especially significant. The accomplishment places LLU among a select group of colleges and universities recognized nationally for workplace excellence.
The recognition marks LLU's ninth year being named a Great College to Work For and its fourth consecutive year earning Honor Roll distinction.
Loma Linda University was awarded distinction in all 10 categories:
"Loma Linda University Health is a truly unique place to work. There are few institutions with a team that experiences such joy in service and pride in our students as ours," said Paul Herrmann, MD, PhD, Chancellor of Loma Linda University. "This external recognition highlights the value and satisfaction that Loma Linda University's longstanding culture of care and support yields among our dedicated employees. Our mission is focused on service, and our staff works hard to educate and develop the next generation of professionals. These principles result not only in the education of superb professionals, but also in the satisfaction our employees take in knowing their work matters."
The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institution questionnaire that captures employment data and workplace policies from each institution, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators, and professional support staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was the employee feedback.
