Dear IAM Family,
This weekend, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a civil rights icon and a champion of organized labor.
Reflecting on his work, we remember his fight and call for racial equality, social justice, and economic parity. Following in his footsteps, the IAM Union has worked to make Dr. King's vision of equal opportunities and living wages a reality.
We should all be inspired by Dr. King's unwavering support for labor rights. Unions like the IAM fought tirelessly to establish a national holiday in his honor. But truly honoring Dr. King requires more than just a day of reflection. It demands action to achieve his dream for all.
Last week, myself and members of the IAM Executive Council led an IAM delegation of more than 50 members to Austin, Texas, to participate in the annual AFL-CIO-sponsored Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Civil and Human Rights Conference. While there, our members learned new organizing skills to help the IAM better navigate labor's multicultural environment. We also strategized with activists and other unions to improve diversity within our ranks.
As we move forward in 2025, we continue to look forward to engaging with our membership, listening to your individual stories, strengthening our union's diversity, and advancing Dr. King's dream.
In solidarity,
Brian Bryant
IAM International President
