May 6, 2026

Veteran activist Toby Hauck (Chicago Center, ZAU) was honored with the Dale Wright Award for Distinguished, Professional and Exceptional Career Service at NATCA in Washington. As the Union's highest honor, the award recognizes a career defined by professional excellence and a relentless commitment to the safety of the National Airspace System.

A NATCA member since 1998, Hauck has consistently advanced the Union's mission through diverse leadership roles. He has served as an alternate member of the National Legislative Committee (NLC) and as the longtime Illinois legislative state coordinator. His dedication to grassroots advocacy, characterized by a personable and direct style in building congressional relationships, was previously recognized in 2014 with the Trish Gilbert Legislative Activism Award. Hauck also provided critical expertise to the Campaign 2022 team and represented the Great Lakes Region on the Onboarding Committee.

The award also acknowledges Hauck's extensive service as the Facility Representative for ZAU from 2012 to 2026. Named for former Director of Safety and Technology Dale Wright, this honor symbolizes a life of service to NATCA. It is reserved for those whose professional contributions have significantly strengthened the U.S. aviation system and ensured its status as the safest in the world.
