BOSTON - As medicine shifts toward longevity-ensuring people live longer lives in good health-bridging the gap between scientific discovery and clinical application has become critical. Speaking at the upcoming Translational Longevity Summit, Randall Rutta, Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Council (NHC), will highlight the organization's participation in moving cutting-edge healthspan research out of the laboratory and into actionable, policy-supported health solutions accessible to all patients.
The Translational Longevity Summit, Oct. 7-11, 2026, at One Milestone on the Harvard Enterprise Research Campus in Boston, is centered around the theme "Translating Science into Healthspan." Co-hosted by Boston BioLife, the Healthspan Action Coalition, the Regenerative Medicine Foundation, and the World Stem Cell Summit, the gathering brings together scientists, clinicians, policymakers, and advocates to turn breakthroughs in biotechnology and precision medicine into real-world care.
"Healthspan is not a privilege for the few-it must become a practical, equitable goal for every person and every community," said Bernard Siegel, Executive Director of the Healthspan Action Coalition and co-chair of the Summit. "The Translational Longevity Summit is designed to move promising science beyond the laboratory by bringing together researchers, clinicians, patient advocates, policymakers, and industry leaders who can help ensure that advances in aging science translate into accessible care. We are especially honored to have the National Health Council and Randall Rutta help lead this conversation, bringing the essential perspectives of people living with chronic disease and disability to the forefront of the Healthspan for All movement."
As a featured panelist, Rutta will join national longevity science policymakers to explore actionable policy frameworks needed to support equitable longevity medicine. Modern longevity centers on maximizing healthspan-adding vibrant, disease-free years to human life rather than simply extending lifespan. Achieving this requires robust national policies that ensure emerging therapies transition smoothly from academic research to clinical delivery across diverse populations.
The summit will also feature a dedicated panel on Longevity for All, a public engagement initiative and collaborative effort among four nonprofit organizations, including the National Health Council. The session will focus on driving system-level change, addressing patient access, and embedding equity at the center of the longevity movement.
"People with chronic conditions or disabilities have not traditionally been part of the longevity conversation. But as people with cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and a myriad of conditions are living longer, healthier lives, they are eager to not only increase their lifespan but also their healthspan," said Rutta. "The National Health Council is excited to engage on longevity by bringing the patient perspective on how to live healthfully and vibrantly."
