Capital Development Board Highlights State Construction at the 2026 Illinois State Fair

Interactive children's activities, giveaways, and information on state construction opportunities featured at the CDB booth.

SPRINGFIELD - The Illinois Capital Development Board (CDB) invites fairgoers, families, and industry professionals to experience hands-on construction activities, receive exciting giveaways, and learn more about employment and partnership opportunities during the 2026 Illinois State Fair, taking place August 13-23 in Springfield.

Visitors can explore career opportunities, learn about upcoming CDB projects, and sit in the driver's seat of a full-size excavator. Children can pose with a construction-themed photo board and receive souvenirs, including a CDB plastic hard hat. Located on Brian Raney Avenue, the CDB exhibit will be open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

"The Illinois State Fair is a great opportunity for us to meet people from communities across the state and talk about the work we're doing to improve Illinois infrastructure," said CDB Executive Director TJ Edwards. "We are excited for booth visitors to learn more about how our work supports public spaces and share ways to partner with CDB."

Architectural, engineering, and construction firms are encouraged to visit the booth to learn about upcoming construction opportunities with the State of Illinois. Informational flyers include guidance on vendor registration, prequalification requirements, diversity compliance, and current opportunities posted in the construction and professional services bulletins.

The CDB is responsible for managing construction and renovation projects at over 8,770 state-owned buildings.
