I am pleased to report that the 2025 Nominating Committee (NomCom) has received 106 completed applications for this year's open Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and Public Technical Identifiers (PTI) leadership positions. The application period closed on 28 March 2025, as outlined in this announcement.

About the 2025 NomCom Candidates

Out of 106 applicants:

• 37 percent are from Africa
• 25 percent are from Asia, Australia, or the Pacific Islands
• 16 percent are from Latin America or the Caribbean
• 8 percent are from Europe
• 2 percent are from North America
• 12 percent are citizens or residents of two or more regions
• 27 percent are female, 73 percent are male

Open Leadership Positions

As a reminder, the 2025 NomCom is seeking to fill 10 open leadership positions. The NomCom has accepted applications for the following key leadership roles:

• Three members of the ICANN Board of Directors
• One member of the PTI Board of Directors
• Three regional representatives to the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) - one each from the Africa region; the Asia, Australia, and Pacific Islands region; and the Latin America and Caribbean region
• One member of the Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO) Council
• Two members of the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) Council - one representing the Contracted Parties House and one representing the Non-Contracted Parties House

Next Steps

Currently, the NomCom is in the assessment phase of the selection cycle. During this phase, NomCom delegates undertake a series of steps to evaluate the applications.

From 24 to 26 April 2025, the NomCom held its first intersessional meeting. The committee reviewed all submitted applications for each open leadership position and evaluated candidates' skills, qualifications, and experience based on the specific criteria for each role. From this meeting, the committee selected a first short list of candidates.

The NomCom has formed deep dive groups that will conduct virtual interviews with the short-listed candidates, using assessment tools and summary reports to evaluate each candidate equally and fairly.

The NomCom will hold its second intersessional meeting in May 2025. Following this meeting, the committee will select the final short list of candidates. The short-listed candidates for the ICANN Board and PTI Board seats will be called for face-to-face interviews during ICANN83. Meanwhile, the short-listed candidates for the ALAC, ccNSO Council, and the GNSO Council positions will be finalized.

During ICANN83, NomCom delegates will vote to confirm selections and alternates for the ICANN Board, PTI Board, ALAC, ccNSO Council, and GNSO Council. The NomCom will also launch a due diligence process for the final short-listed candidates for all open leadership positions. The goal is to announce the NomCom selectees in late August or early September 2025.
