Autumn Luna Selected as New Chief Assistant City Attorney

The City of Santa Rosa is pleased to announce the appointment of Autumn Luna as the new Chief Assistant City Attorney, effective June 23, 2025. Luna brings 12 years of extensive experience in municipal law.

Luna joins the City of Santa Rosa from the City of Eureka, where she currently serves as City Attorney. There, Luna manages the daily operations, budget and personnel of the City Attorney's office, and provides a wide range of municipal legal services, helping the city build a community committed to affordable housing, walkable and bikeable streets, multi-modal transit, and support a vibrant downtown for businesses, residents and visitors.

"We are delighted to welcome Autumn to our team," said Teresa Stricker, City Attorney. "Her proven track record as a creative and experienced city attorney will be invaluable as we continue to navigate complex legal issues and work towards the betterment of our community during these fiscally challenging times."

Before joining Eureka, Luna served as Assistant County Counsel for the County of Del Norte, providing legal services to the Sheriff's Department, Department of Health and Human Services and the County Clerk Recorder/Elections Officer. Prior to joining the County of Del Norte, Luna was a partner with the Black & Rice law firm, where she provided legal services to both private clients and government agencies, including cities, community services districts, joint power authorities, local transportation agencies and tribes on various transactional, advisory and litigation matters.

Luna holds a law degree from the University of California, Davis, School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from the University of Washington.

As Chief Assistant City Attorney, Luna will play a critical leadership role in the City's legal team, serving as the assistant department head and providing strategic legal services to ensure that City policies are implemented in a manner that is legally defensible and in the best interest of the City.
