Micromobility scooter & bike program begins Saturday

The City's Micromobility Program returns in 2026 with a new addition coming to the lineup: Electric pedal assist bikes.

Since launching in 2019, micromobility has become an increasingly popular way to travel in Cedar Rapids. By using e-scooters and bikes, the program offers residents and visitors an affordable, convenient, and sustainable transportation option that reduces vehicle trips, lowers emissions, and provides more transportation choices for riders 18 or older.

Spring Break Launch

Starting Saturday, March 14, Veo bikes and scooters will be made available throughout Cedar Rapids. If weather allows, service may continue through the end of November, providing a longer micromobility season.

Riders can locate and unlock devices using the Veo app, with parking hubs placed in various locations.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all users, the City reminds riders to wear a helmet and that all micromobility devices must follow Iowa traffic laws. This includes obeying traffic signals, yielding to pedestrians, and staying off sidewalks downtown.

Considerate parking is important to allow access for others, especially around sidewalks, crosswalks, and driveways. Riders can learn more about how to properly park here.

As micromobility continues to serve an essential role in providing affordable transportation options, Veo provides a reduced fare program (VeoAccess) for qualifying residents.
