On April 24, the Unified Government welcomed nearly 150 youth to the Hallways and offices of Unified Government buildings for a super-hero themed "Take your Child to Work Day". This event focused on introducing youth to the workforce and services needed to support city and county government. Children enjoyed a fun filled day of learning, games, job shadowing and engaging with various UG vehicles.
"Take Your Child to Work Day is an annual event for many workplaces. April 24th was an opportunity for employees of the UG to bring their children to experience and shadow their parents/guardians," said UG Human Resources Director J. Renee Ramirez. "This event fosters curiosity and encourages the future leaders of the UG to explore a variety of careers, and most importantly provides quality time between parents/guardians and children to have fun and connect our personal family time with our work family. It was a wonderful time to have our children walking the hallways of our workspaces and seeing the many smiles it brought to our employees."
The Unified Government looks forward to many more opportunities to engage with youth and share the many tasks that are completed to keep Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas functioning.
