EL CAJON POLICE DEPARTMENT LAUNCHES "CONNECT EL CAJON" PROGRAM

Post Date:03/26/2026 2:30 PM

EL CAJON, CA - The El Cajon Police Department is rolling out a new public safety program called CONNECT EL CAJON, designed to help officers respond and investigate crimes more efficiently.

Through a secure online portal, residents and business owners can voluntarily register their security cameras with the department. This doesn't give police access to live video-it simply lets investigators know where cameras are located. If something happens nearby, officers may reach out to request recorded footage that could help with the case. Participation is completely optional, and any shared video is kept confidential and used only for investigations or emergencies.

The program also offers an option for those who want to take it a step further. With a small device, participants can choose to allow live video sharing with police during active emergencies, like serious threats in progress. Camera owners stay in control at all times and decide when access is given.

CONNECT EL CAJON is part of the department's effort to modernize technology and improve response times, ultimately enhancing investigative efforts and supporting more effective public safety outcomes.

"El Cajon Police Department is committed to working closely with our community through transparency and innovation," said Police Chief Jeremiah Larson. "CONNECT EL CAJON gives residents and businesses a simple way to partner with us and help keep our city safe."
