WELLFLEET, Mass.-Cape Cod National Seashore's (CCNS) Atlantic Research and Learning Center (ARLC) will host the fourteenth annual "Science in the Seashore Symposium" on Thursday, September 25 from 9:30 am to 1 pm. The event will be available to an in-person audience at the Salt Pond Visitor Center, but also available to remote attendees online through Microsoft Teams. The event is free and open to the public.
The "Science in the Seashore Symposium" is a great opportunity to learn about the scientific research at Cape Cod National Seashore from the experts working in the park. There will be seven engaging presentations with opportunities to ask questions. Some of the topics include the biodiversity of the Nauset estuary, research on marsh restoration, monitoring coastal change, butterfly diversity, and study of ceramics as a tool to learn about history.
The Atlantic Research and Learning Center at Cape Cod National Seashore, the host of the symposium, is one of seventeen research and learning centers in the national park system. Science and education come together at these centers to preserve, protect, manage, and understand park resources.
The 2025 "Science in the Seashore Symposium" is sponsored by Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore. The Friends have been the national seashore's philanthropic partner since 1987 and sponsor of the Nickerson Fellowship, which provides annual grants for research in the national seashore.
