New customizable Multiview feature gives DIRECTV streaming customers more choice and control over how they watch live sports
DIRECTV today announced Build Your Own Multiview, a new feature that gives sports fans more control over how they stream live games by letting them select up to four eligible channels to watch together on one screen.
Beginning Oct. 13, the feature will initially rollout to DIRECTV streaming customers on Gemini and Roku, with Android TV, Fire TV, Vizio, LG, Apple TV and Tizen TV to follow. Building on DIRECTV's curated Multiview experience, fans can now choose between pre-selected combinations or create their own two-, three- or four-view lineup.
"DIRECTV has been at the forefront of Multiview innovation for nearly two decades, and we continue to evolve the experience around how fans want to watch," said Vikash Sharma, head of product, DIRECTV. "Giving fans the ability to build their own lineup is the next step, offering even more choice and control over how they follow the games that matter most to them."
The experience is simple and intuitive. While watching eligible content, fans can access Multiview directly from the DIRECTV interface. The channel they're already watching is pre-selected, and from there they can add other available sports channels to create a two-, three- or four-view lineup. Fans can also add or remove selections as they watch.
Fans can build their Multiview with a wide range of sports networks, including ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, FS1, NFL Network, NBA TV, MLB Network, NHL Network, CBS Sports Network, Golf Channel, Tennis Channel, ACC Network, Big Ten Network and SEC Network. Additional participating local broadcast and national networks can also become available when they're carrying eligible live sporting events, giving fans even more options as the sports schedule changes.
This new feature joins existing Multiview channels and DIRECTV Sports Central as part of DIRECTV's continued focus on making it easier for fans to discover and watch the sports they care about. Available from the main menu, Sports Central brings live and upcoming games across football, basketball, baseball and hockey together in one place, where fans can view schedules, follow the action and set recordings for their favorite teams.
DIRECTV offers a range of flexible programming packages to meet different viewing needs. Customers can choose from options like MyFree DIRECTV, which delivers a curated collection of 150+free, ad-supported channels; DIRECTV Genre Packs, which allow customers to personalize their experience by focusing on the content they love most-whether it's sports, movies, family programming, or lifestyle entertainment; and comprehensive Signature Packages, offering the most popular networks.
