Governor Kotek Orders Flags Lowered to Half-Staff for Peace Officers Memorial Day

Salem, OR - Today, Governor Tina Kotek ordered flags at Oregon public institutions to be flown at half-staff on May 15, 2025, pursuant to a Presidential Proclamation, and in honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day. The flag should be flown at half-staff until sunset on May 15, 2024.

"Our law enforcement public safety professionals face the most complicated, vulnerable parts of humanity. Then they ask how they can help," Governor Kotek said. "Today we honor the sacrifice, courage, and heart of those who have fallen in service protecting their fellow Oregonians."

Peace Officers Memorial Day takes place within National Police Week to pay tribute to the local, state, and federal peace officers who have died or who have been disabled in the line of duty. It is also a time to support surviving family members and recognize the service of current officers.
