Every March, the National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities (NACDD) and its partners collaborate to lead Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month (DDAM), an annual campaign highlighting how people with and without disabilities come together to build strong, inclusive communities. This month serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of belonging, visibility, and connection.
Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month also encourages reflection and dialogue, inviting individuals, organizations, and institutions to take meaningful action-whether by learning more about disability history and rights, improving accessibility, or intentionally creating space for disabled leadership. By proclaiming March as Disability Awareness Month, we affirm our commitment to a society that values all people, embraces disability as a natural part of the human experience, and recognizes that true inclusion benefits everyone.
