Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) took to the Senate floor to speak out against President Trump and Republicans' anti-voter SAVE Act. Senator Luján highlighted the legislation's harmful impact on New Mexicans and Americans across the country, including the devastating impact the SAVE Act poses on rural, Tribal, and Hispanic communities.

"President Trump made his intentions clear. He wants Republicans to rewrite the rules and take away Americans' right to vote. They know their agenda isn't working. If there's any question about it, I'm voting against this legislation."

The SAVE Act threatens to disenfranchise millions of Americans. The legislation creates significant and expensive new barriers that would disproportionately impact voters of color, married women, and others who have changed their names, rural and Tribal voters, young people, people with disabilities, and low-income communities.
