Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) officially launched its 14th Ramadan tour at Pasar Tani Kekal Datin Halimah, Larkin, Johor Bahru, marking the start of a programme to bring the spirit of Ramadan directly to communities. Minister of Communications of Malaysia, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil emphasised that radio remains a steadfast companion in daily life, accompanying drivers on the road, traders in markets, fishermen at sea, and farmers in fields. Under the theme "One Voice, One Soul," the initiative reflects RTM's commitment to uniting people regardless of background.
The tour will cover 30 locations across Malaysia over 20 days, from 16 February to 8 March 2026, with 15 vehicles and 40 team members including broadcasters and guest celebrities visiting northern, southern, central, and eastern regions, as well as Sabah and Sarawak.
Since starting in 2012, the programme has been recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records as the country's longest-running community initiative, having completed 38 activities nationwide. Fahmi noted this demonstrates that RTM serves beyond news and entertainment, acting as a bridge between government and the public.
Whilst RTM has embraced digital platforms and social media, the minister stressed that modernisation must not come at the expense of compassion and community care. With support from main sponsor BABA'S and partners including Petron, Hotel Seri Malaysia, and others, the Ramadan tour shows that personal connection remains a priority.
The minister urged the entire team to prioritise safety and engage sincerely with communities, as their actions reflect RTM's standing in the eyes of the public.
