"At the very beginning of my speech, I wish to express my gratitude and to thank each of you for your professionalism and your unwavering dedication to our homeland" this was stated by the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, in his address to diplomats at the Ambassadors' Conference 2025.
As the President noted, in several areas, Georgia is not only a regional leader but also outperforms certain member states of the European Union and NATO. At the same time, the country continues to deepen its economic and political ties with other states.
"In the context of today's challenging geopolitical landscape, this year has also been difficult and full of challenges for Georgia.
Due to our principled stance that Georgia defends its sovereignty, its national interests and the peace of its people, our country has faced a number of undeserved accusations. We have had to confront multiple challenges and contend with large-scale campaigns that were certainly not designed with the best interests of Georgia and its people in mind.
Even in the face of such challenges, studies and reports by various institutions and organizations confirm that, based on credible and objective data, Georgia not only leads in the region but also outperforms certain member states of the European Union and NATO in several key areas.
Of course, we are not content with our achievements, and in line with our national interests, we continue to strengthen and deepen our economic and political ties both with our neighboring countries and with states whose cooperation will, in the long term, yield significant positive results for Georgia. Our country's strategic location enables Georgia to enhance its importance and role, both in terms of international connectivity and in the implementation of intergovernmental projects," stated Mikheil Kavelashvili.
He also called on Georgian diplomats to spare no effort in further developing trade and transit connections.
"Our shared objective is for Georgia to further consolidate its status as the main regional hub in the South Caucasus. At the same time, we must actively promote the economic and peaceful integration of broader geographic areas - Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
I urge each of you to spare no effort in further advancing trade and transit links. This will not only enhance global connectivity but also restore Georgia's historical role as a civilizational crossroads.
Georgia is not only a key junction of the Middle Corridor but also a unique space for civilizational dialogue, where different cultures have coexisted peacefully for centuries," highlighted the President.
He further noted that Georgia's guiding principle remains the promotion of regional and global peace and an open dialogue based on equality, mutual respect and consideration of national interests.
"My visits to neighboring countries - Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Turkey, as well as to the United Nations and Serbia - have made it even clearer to me that our foreign policy vector has no alternative.
For us, the starting point remains the promotion of regional and global peace, and an open dialogue based on equality, mutual respect, and the consideration of national interests.
Currently, among the most significant priorities of our foreign policy are the de-occupation of Georgia's two historical regions and the non-recognition policy. At the same time, we reaffirm our commitment to the approach that there is no alternative to the peaceful resolution of conflict.
Today, we steadfastly defend our national interests. Our message is unequivocal: Georgia will never relinquish its sovereignty or its choice to remain an independent, democratic and peaceful state. This is our historical responsibility and the very foundation of our nation's existence.
In this process, especially considering the aforementioned challenges and opportunities, your role is of particular importance. It is upon you, Georgian diplomats, to ensure that our country's identity, centuries-old traditions, and values - which we take great pride in and upon which our nation stands - are protected and accurately represented on the international stage.
Your diplomatic work carries a mission far greater and more honorable than routine duties - it is a responsibility toward the history, present and future of our country.
Remember that you represent a nation and a people who never surrender!
Be confident, principled, and, above all, united, for it is only in this way that the voice of Georgian diplomats can be clearly heard on the international stage - a voice that steadfastly and loyally defends the interests of our homeland and our people across the globe," emphasized Mikheil Kavelashvili.
In conclusion, Mikheil Kavelashvili once again expressed his deep gratitude to the Georgian diplomats and wished them success in their future endeavors.
