China Media Group launched the global livestreaming of the 2025 Great Wildebeest Migration from the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve in southwest Kenya, an event inaugurated by Kenyan President William Ruto. The live broadcast, which ran from 25 to 27 July 2025, aimed to present one of the world's most remarkable natural spectacles-featuring over a million wildebeest alongside vast herds of zebras-while highlighting Africa's rich heritage to the audience.
In an interview with China Media Group, President Ruto praised Kenya andChina cooperation in conservation, cultural exchange and ecological conversation. He noted that CMG's coverage not only strengthened bilateral ties but also supported Kenya's tourism and economic growth. "Masai Mara is the greatest asset we have as a nation. This project blends development, environmental conservation, and culture in a way that benefits both our countries and contributes to global sustainability," he stated.
CMG's production will traverse Kenya's key national reserves, including Masai Mara and Lake Bogoria, capturing dramatic scenes such as the Mara River crossings, where wildebeest face natural predators. By streaming the migration to a global audience, CMG seeks to raise awareness of Africa's unique ecosystems and reinforce the cultural and environmental collaboration between Kenya and China.
