At the Presidential Residence, a meeting took place between President Vahagn Khachaturyan and President Emmanuel Macron, who had arrived in the Republic of Armenia on a state visit.
Welcoming the President of France, the President of Armenia expressed gratitude for his visit to Armenia and for his participation in the European Political Community Summit held in Yerevan.
"Since 1991, Armenia has been at the center of France's attention, and we have gone through this path also with the support and assistance of France. Of course, this has historical roots, we share the same civilizational values and have stood together in the defense of Christian values. I am confident that Your visit will give a new impetus to the development of our relations," the President noted.
Emmanuel Macron thanked for the meeting and the warm hospitality: "I am very pleased to be in Armenia today on a state visit. Tomorrow we will also have meetings which, I believe, will open a new chapter in the history of relations between France and Armenia," said the President of France.
During the discussion, the sides highly appreciated the historically formed friendship between the two countries and the cooperation based on mutual trust, emphasizing the importance of its continuous deepening and expansion into new strategic directions.
The presidents thoroughly addressed the agenda of cooperation in political, economic, defense, and cultural-educational spheres, highlighting the importance of implementing result-oriented initiatives.
President Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed France's commitment to continue supporting Armenia and to deepen bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of defense, infrastructure development, artificial intelligence, high technologies, and communications, considering them key directions of long-term partnership.
Referring to regional developments, President Vahagn Khachaturyan reaffirmed Armenia's consistent position aimed at promoting a peace agenda, as well as building relations with all countries without preconditions, based on mutual respect, sovereignty, and the principles of good neighborliness.
During the meeting, the presidents also emphasized the importance of developing parliamentary diplomacy and further promoting effective cooperation between friendship groups in the parliaments of the two countries.
The sides also touched upon the expansion of decentralized cooperation, highlighting its role in strengthening local self-government systems and ensuring sustainable community development.
At the end of the meeting, the sides reaffirmed their readiness to continue high-level political dialogue and effective cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of both countries and for strengthening regional peace and stability.
