Scribendi named Pacemaker Award finalist, secures NCHC second place

Scribendi, the literary and arts magazine for The University of New Mexico Honors College, was recently selected as a finalist for the 2024 Pacemaker award from the Associated Collegiate Press in the category of Undergraduate Publications. The Pacemaker Award will be announced at the Associated Collegiate Press's fall convention later this month.

The Pacemaker awards, often referred to as the "Pulitzer Prize of student journalism," recognize excellence across various media formats, including magazines, newspapers, and broadcasts. Scribendi competes as a literary arts magazine from a four-year institution.

Evaluation for this prestigious award focuses on multiple criteria, including the diversity of contributors and content, the quality of layout and design, and the overall caliber of published material. The selection process examines the range of voices and subjects featured, the publication's visual presentation, and the excellence of its content.

In addition to this recognition, Scribendi has also received second place in the National Collegiate Honors Council awards for both its 2023 and 2024 editions. The publication wishes to acknowledge the hard work of its editorial teams:
