The City of Garden Grove along with Republic Services will host its second compost giveaway of the year on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., or until supplies run out. Residents will be able to receive up to six free bags of nutrient-rich compost at the Garden Grove Municipal Service Center, 13802 Newhope Street. The event is open to Garden Grove residents only and proof of residency is required.
The distribution will be held in the center's parking lot on a first-come, first-serve basis. Vehicles must enter from A Better Way, accessible from Anabel Street, north of the Garden Grove Municipal Service Center. Due to the popularity of the free event, residents should expect long lines. This is the second compost giveaway in collaboration with Republic Services.
The Compost Giveaway is one way the City of Garden Grove and Republic Services thank the community for participating in the state-mandated Organics Recycling program, enabling residents and businesses to recycle all food waste, food-soiled paper, and yard waste in their organics cart.
