2025 GVEA Election Results

JUNE 13, 2025 - This afternoon, election judges from GVEA's Member Advisory Committee counted ballots and certified the election results for the District 6 director. John Sloan was elected to the District 6 seat.

In order for an election to be valid, GVEA's Bylaws require a minimum of 10% of the total district membership to vote in director elections. The candidate receiving the highest number of votes for the district is declared as elected. A total of 374 members in District 6 voted, which is 18.3% of the district membership.

District 6 Director Election:

There were two candidates on the ballot for District 6: Fred Sheen (incumbent) and John Sloan.

• John Sloan received the most votes between the two candidates.
• John Sloan: 191 votes / 51.07%
• Fred Sheen: 183 votes / 48.93%
• Consistent with GVEA's Bylaws, John Sloan received the most votes and is elected.

Congratulations to John! He will officially be seated to the GVEA Board of Directors at the June 24, 2025, board meeting.

District 5 Update:

District 5 was also up for election this year. In District 5, only one candidate, Bradley Swope, ran for the seat. Consistent with GVEA Bylaws, because Swope was unopposed and to avoid the cost of an election when only one candidate is running, the Board of Directors voted to appoint Swope to the District 5 seat for the upcoming term at their March 25 meeting. Swope will replace current District 5 Director Chris Bunch effective at the June 24, 2025, board meeting.
