West University Updates

July 7, 2026

Dear West University Place neighbors,

As part of our commitment to improving your reliability, we wanted to make you aware of the many key actions we've taken, and completed, to strengthen the local electric system and further improve your day-to-day reliability.

Key actions completed

In response to local concerns over power outages, we've taken a series of critical actions which include the following:

  • Completed eight high-priority upgrades on three distribution circuits and substation equipment to strengthen local reliability and reduce the impact of future outages.
  • Inspected 100% of local electric circuits, including ~27 miles of distribution circuits and transmission structures.
  • Conducted thermal inspections of 100% of local substations to identify potential improvements.
  • Completed 100% of substation improvement projects following thermal inspections.
  • Cleared vegetation from 18 targeted areas to reduce storm-related outages.
  • Completed an additional 14 distribution equipment improvements to further enhance daily reliability.
  • Hosted local Community Connect events to gather feedback from the community and share important updates on our efforts to improve resiliency and reliability.
