UW-Led Wyoming Dementia Together Offers Zoom Meeting June 17

Caregivers of loved ones living with dementia have one major thing in common: They all have questions.

Support staff members of Wyoming Dementia Together (WDT) have many of the answers to the questions posed by those caregivers. The team will be available to answer questions during its next Zoom meeting at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 17.

WDT is a statewide, nonprofit caregiver network operating through the University of Wyoming's Wyoming Center on Aging (WyCOA). WDT meets by Zoom call every other Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. The free online programs feature guest speakers and allow time for interaction from those who attend online.

"It's so easy to feel like you're alone in the caregiver journey," says Scott Veatch, of Casper, a WDT team member and a former caregiver for his wife, Mona, who passed away from Alzhemier's in December 2021. "When Mona was first diagnosed in 2007, there was very little support available for me. Here, at Wyoming Dementia Together, we work to make those days a thing of the past for caregivers.

"Our goal is to use our individual experiences and talents to make the caregiver's journey easier," he continues. "On this call, we'll welcome questions on any relevant topic, such as nutrition, communication, help with dressing and in the bathroom, and general questions about caring for someone living with a dementia diagnosis."

WDT includes dementia care professionals, licensed clinical social workers, physical and occupational therapists and caregivers themselves. WDT began meeting in fall 2020 and has been offering online programming help.

This will be WDT's final Zoom call program for the first half of 2026. WDT will resume its regular program schedule Aug. 12 with "Engage, Connect, Thrive: Meaningful Activities for Dementia Care Partners and Loved Ones." Future program topics include "Driving and Dementia: When It's Time to Stop - What Comes Next," Aug. 26; "Legacy Leaving: Listening with Heart and Purpose," Sept. 9; "Aging Brain Care: From Evaluation to Emerging Treatment Options," Sept. 23; and "Managing Finances in Dementia Care: Support for Caregivers and Loved Ones," Oct. 7.
