Henderson City Manager Receives Honorary Master's Degree from Nevada State University
HENDERSON, Nev. (May 20, 2026) - Henderson City Manager and CEO Stephanie Garcia-Vause was awarded an honorary master's degree by Nevada State University Acting President Amber Lopez Lasater.
The distinction recognizes individuals who have made meaningful contributions to improving academic programs and student life at one of the Nevada System of Higher Education's eight institutions.
"Receiving this honorary degree from Nevada State University is an incredible honor," said Garcia-Vause. "I'm proud of the partnerships we've built to expand educational opportunities and support the success of our community."
For nearly three decades, Garcia-Vause has served the Henderson community with dedication and forward-thinking leadership. Her leadership played a pivotal role in shaping the College Area Plan, which established the framework for the continued development and expansion of Nevada State University and strengthened access to postsecondary education throughout the community.
Garcia-Vause also led critical land use and infrastructure planning efforts that helped integrate Nevada State University into the surrounding community and regional economy. Those efforts ensured that, as the university grew, it did so in ways that supported students, residents and local businesses while advancing Henderson's broader strategic priorities, including quality education.
In addition, Garcia-Vause helped establish the City of Henderson Department of Education, creating stronger partnerships between local government and higher education institutions. Through this work, the City continues to expand opportunities for students, support workforce development and foster academic excellence.
This recognition reflects Garcia-Vause's longstanding commitment to education and the City of Henderson's ongoing dedication to enhancing the lives of those who live, learn, work and play in the community.
