Congressman Tim Moore Statement as Lumbee Recognition Is Set to Become Law
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Tim Moore (NC-14) released the following statement on the Senate passage of the Lumbee Fairness Act in the FY2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA):
"Today is a historic day for the Lumbee Tribe as they are finally set to receive the full federal recognition they deserve.
"As an original cosponsor of the Lumbee Fairness Act and a longtime advocate for this cause, I'm proud to stand with Chairman John Lowery and the Tribe in celebrating this moment. President Trump promised to get this done and has been a strong supporter every step of the way.
"I'm grateful to Senator Thom Tillis, Congressman David Rouzer, and the entire North Carolina delegation for helping lead the charge to deliver justice and long-overdue recognition to the Lumbee people."
