"This is such a great opportunity for our seniors to connect with each other in our community, while enjoying activities during Older Americans Month," said Vice Mayor Miguel Martinez. "I encourage seniors to attend these amazing events throughout the month of May."
According to the National Institute on Aging, one in four Americans over 65 are considered socially isolated. Seniors who socialize have boosted cognitive function, reduced depression and loneliness, and extended lifespans.
The City is hosting a variety of activities to help seniors socialize in the community including art shows, ice cream socials, recreation events, and more.
