The brand presents its team of Kenyan athletes

Joma is getting ready to conquer the major events on the international calendar. Athletes Dorine and Teo will make their debut at the Movistar Media Half Marathon in Madrid.

Joma, the sports brand in constant growth, has announced the incorporation of four prominent Kenyan athletes to its team of runners. Two of these athletes will debut in the Movistar Media Half Marathon in Madrid, while the other two will do so in the iconic Two Oceans race, which is held simultaneously in South Africa.

Their names are Dorine Jepchirchir and Teophilus Kipsang Yator for the Madrid Half Marathon and Reuben Mosin Mosip and Mercy Jebet Kibor for the iconic Two Oceans race.

Movistar Media Half Marathon Madrid

In the Spanish capital, the new signings Dorine Jepchirchir and Teophilus Kipsang Yator will make their debut with the Joma team at the Madrid Half Marathon, one of the most important events of the season.

Dorine Jepchirchir, a 25-year-old Kenyan athlete specialized in half marathon, has achieved an impressive personal best time of 1:10:00 in this distance, reflecting her great potential. Despite her short career, she arrives with the ambition to surpass her personal best in Madrid. It is expected that she will position herself in the Top 10 of the best invited runners.

In her record, she highlights a fourth place in the Ravena Half Marathon (1:10:19) and a fifth place in the Dubai Half Marathon (1:11:50), which places her as one of the most promising runners.

Teophilus Kipsang Yator, on the other hand, is one of the most promising endurance runners at 26 years old. In his marathon debut, he recorded an impressive time of 2 hours and 11 minutes in Valencia, despite being ill. Now, in his first challenge at the Madrid Half Marathon, it is expected that he will achieve a time close to 61 minutes, with possibilities of breaking the one-hour mark on flatter courses in the future.

His capacity in the 10K, where he has recorded 27 minutes, makes him a strong candidate for the podium in Madrid. According to expectations, if the level is like that of 2023, Teophilus should be among the top three, and even aspire to victory if the level of last year is repeated.

Likewise, the Joma team will be accompanied by several elite athletes who will also compete in the Madrid Half Marathon. Among them are:

  • Peter Durec, the best athlete from Slovakia, who aims to break the national record in the race.
  • Hicham Sigueni, who achieved his personal best in the marathon in Valencia with a time of 2:10.
  • Ikram Rharsalla, an international athlete with Spain who competes in the elite of athletics.
  • Diego Jiménez, a young promise who will make his debut in the Madrid Half Marathon and will seek an outstanding performance.

Two Oceans:

Simultaneously, in South Africa, Joma will also be present at the famous Two Oceans Race, with the participation of athletes Reuben Mosin and Mercy Jebet, who join the team with high expectations.

Reuben Mosin Mosip, At just 23 years old, Reuben is emerging as one of the great promises of international long-distance running. He made his half marathon debut in Dubai, where he finished sixth with a time of 1:02:00, in an international-level race. He also excels in the 10K, with an impressive time of 27 minutes, and in the 5K, with 13:34.54. With a strong potential, Reuben is one of the favorites to make a mark in the Two Oceans Marathon.

Mercy Jebet Kibor, also 23 years old, is a highly talented athlete with a promising future in the marathon. Her story is worth telling: in the Ravenna Marathon, she started in the half marathon, but after finishing in the Top 10 with a time of 1:12, she decided to keep running and ended up winning the marathon with a time of 2:44. Now, in the Two Oceans Marathon, she arrives as one of the top contenders, with the expectation of achieving a time close to 2:30.

With outstanding personal records such as 16:15 in the 5K, 33:20 in the 10K, and 1:13:52 in the half marathon, Mercy is one of Joma's key bets for this prestigious race.

The athletes will compete with the high-end model R-1000
