KC Futures Youth Commission Hosts First Youth Summit
Kansas City Youth Urged to Voice Their Opinions and Collaborate with Community Leaders at Summit

Our Voice, Our City, Our Future


For immediate release: Friday, December 12, 2025

The KC Futures Commission is excited to partner with the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA) and Focus KC to host the inaugural KC Futures Youth Summit, giving Kansas City's youth a platform to share their opinions and ideas for the future. High schools across the metro have agreed to send their students to the Summit. Students in grades 9-12 from other local schools are also invited to register for the first KC Futures Youth Summit on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the KC Convention Center.

About KC Futures:
The KC Futures Commission is a leadership program that gives youth a platform to participate in local government. Members meet regularly to discuss issues, learn about City decision-making, and collaborate on policy ideas reflecting their community experiences. The Commission believes early civic engagement is crucial. When young people are involved in local decisions, they become informed, confident citizens capable of creating change in Kansas City and beyond.

Who: KC Futures, Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA), and FocusKC.

What: Expect youth discussions about what's happening in our city, providing opportunities to collaborate with community leaders to make real change. The Youth Commission's focus areas this year are Youth-Friendly Spaces, Violence, Mental Health and Substance Abuse, and Quality Education.
